During the course of our work, we have the privilege of sharing the Special Days of some wonderful people, and Claire, Richard and their family were no exception.
They had chosen to marry abroad in Paphos, and when they arrived on the island, Team MP were already there, raring to go.
The MP Team met Claire and Richard during their wedding preparations at opposite ends of the four-star Louis Ledra Beach Hotel in Paphos just so there was no chance of the bride and groom accidentally bumping into one another! :-)
Whilst Claire was having her hair styled, groom Richard was upstairs with 'the boys' getting ready.
Claire returned to her room and was later joined by her friends and family. After an extremely emotional phone call to her twin sister back in the UK who couldn't attend the wedding, the time had come to get into her beautiful dress.
With the final touches complete in both rooms, the moment was upon them to depart for their wedding venue, Peyia Town Hall. A large coach arrived to take all of the wedding guests to the venue, and a wedding limousine arrived to take Claire and her Uncle Paul separately. We joined Claire in the limousine and shared her very relaxed drive through Paphos town centre and the island's beautiful winding coastal roads. It is a local custom in Paphos for all wedding cars to sound their horns long and loud when driving through busy areas of towns, and Claire's car was no exception. We think it is a wonderful tradition that should be imported to the UK!
Once they had arrived, Claire and her Uncle took the short stroll underneath the town hall and through the historic monuments to meet their friends and family at the wedding venue.
Because of the guaranteed sunshine throughout the year on the island, it is far too hot to hold ceremonies indoors, and at Peyia, there is a natural amphitheatre filled with trees, and a pergola, under which the couple exchanged their vows.
As Claire and her Uncle made their way down the steps, their friends and family were lined either side of the route to the pergola, and within moments, the couple were finally together.
After a short exchange of emotional vows, Claire and Richard were husband and wife. There was time for photographs before the wedding party made the return trip to the Louis Ledra Beach Hotel.
The hotel had thoughtfully provided a large, private balcony and had laid-on a buffet and bar. After food, cake and some improvised speeches, the time had come for some photographs down on the private beach which backed-onto the hotel.
With temperatures rising to 28 degrees centigrade, it is to Claire and Richard's credit that they decided to remain in their full wedding attire (including Claire's beautiful Sincerity Bridal gown) for the whole day, and when we suggested they should have a paddle in the sea, the couple couldn't get down to the sea-front fast enough!
The couple took a romantic stroll down the peninsula whilst their friends and family looked-on. As they returned, the owner of the local paragliding centre offered Claire a free ride... provided she went up wearing her wedding dress! The couple then took a stroll by the shore before another coach arrived to take them to their next stop: A twilight firework cruise.
As their large firework cruise pulled out of Paphos harbour, we reflected on the wonderful day we had experienced with the couple, and their family and friends.
The MP Team were also delighted to have been invited to Claire and Richard's wedding blessing in the UK in August 2013, and were able to capture a stunning collection of images as well as an amazing film.
